Dress Rehearsal and Cast Party

I can't believe we are here! For dress rehearsal tonight [5-9], eat before you come and bring all the energy you have! I want to see more expression and excitement on stage! Webb will not be here for the first run through, so we'll have to rally in his absence [Peter?!]. Bailey, you will be Lamar in first run through, then Eliza for second.

Parents! Cast Party is Sunday and we need help with food. Sharon Hamelin is coordinating, so please contact her and let her know what you will bring: shamelin@comcast.net or 610-647-4949. Here's some suggestions: pizza, hoagies, chicken wings, pasta salad, salad, chips, veggie tray, fruit, desert, water, drinks. You can find details on the party in the Cast Party post on this blog.

Comment below if you can be there.

All hands on deck!

Everyone loves Godspell. So let's fill the seats and give them a great show!

Great job!

Sunday's rehearsal was really good. Despite still being on book, you all were productive. Next time we're together, everyone will be off book and then you can really start to have fun with it.

Some of you are still struggling with paying attention and reacting to what is going on in the play. No matter what your role, you are all actors! As an actor, you are an artist. Create your character. Know them well so you can comfortably sit in their skin and think and act like them. This is a difficult play because you have to be "on" all the time. It's work. Hopefully, the kind of work you find fun!

Since we have so little time together, you have to prepare for your role on your own. To assist you, I have put together an acting tips page on this blog. If you have questions or would like extra help, please let us know!!

Thank you for your dedication. The next few weeks are going to be super fun.

Next rehearsal:
Teachers: Wednesday, April 13, 6:30-7:45 pm
All Cast: Thursday, April 28 [evening time TBA]
Then, our mega day: Sunday, May 1 [Pep Rally at the 9:15 followed by lunch at 12:15, rehearsal 12:30 to at lease 5 pm [ending time TBA] Everyone must be here for this one!

Saturday, April 9, 2011

Preview Tomorrow!

Thank you to everyone who came Thursday to craft our Parable Preview. It's going to be great. If you couldn't come on Thursday and want to join the "good soil"--we'd love to have you!

We are meeting downstairs in the choir area under the chapel at 8:55 am. See you then!

Sunday, April 10th

We rehearse from 12:30 to 4:30 pm this Sunday. Lunch [on the Fischers, thank you!!] will be from 12:15-12:30, warm ups at 12:30 sharp. Get your socializing out of the way during lunch because everyone needs to be very focus and in character. We'll run through Act 2 with stops, then we run through the entire show with music, no stopping. Know your dialogue, choreography, and be prepared to act and react. If you have questions, please come early or stay late to discuss them.

Changes to the script:
We've reworked the "echo scene" [mind...., body....]. Peter and Stephen will echo James. Webb, you're off the hook!

There are a few lines of sheep/goat dialogue in Act 2 [pg. 36-37] I would like delivered by Caroline L, Peter and Meredith since they have mics. Caroline, you'll need to trade with someone to become a sheep. Meredith, you'll need to move SR at the sheep/goat divide on pg 36, then retreat to back CS for We Beseech Thee. Here's the scene:
Jesus: "And he will say to those on his right.....you came to my aid."
[Peter tries to become a sheep, waving others to follow him]
Jesus: "Hey, hey, hey....they will say to him:"
Caroline L: [trying to remember] "When was it we saw you hungry and gave you food or thirsty and gave you drink?
Meredith: [trying to remember] Yeah, or in prison and helped you?
Jesus: "And then he will say to them....."
Caroline: "Oh, I get it"
Meredith: "Ohhhhhh" [wanders away, pondering this to back CS and sits on bookcase]
Jesus: And then he will say to those on his left.....to my aid. And they will say to him:
Peter: [in a funny voice, looking around for agreement from the other goats] "Well...if we'd known it was you...."

TEACHERS!  We are long overdue for Prologue rehearsal. Bob or I will email you for a meeting time that is best for you. Probably next Wednesday. Watch your emails please!!!

SEE PREVIEW POST BELOW AND RESPOND PLEASE!!!!
Nicole, Marie, James and Molly: Any chance you can come early before our Preview rehearsal this Thursday to go over those gaps? Molly & James for Turn Back O Man choreography at 5:15; Nicole and James for Day By Day at 5:45??? Email me: susansmart@comcast.net.
